MCofS Position Statements regarding Use and Management of Walls

The MCofS supports walls that operate a ‘restriction-free’ access system i.e. centres that do not require pre-booking, have no restrictive entry requirements nor restrictive safety rules so that a climber may simply turn up and climb unsupervised (see MCofS Advice on Wall Management).

The MCofS feel it is incumbent on those climbers attending a wall to take responsibility for themselves wherever possible (see Self Reliance Ethic at Walls).

The MCofS Climbing Walls Policy Statement (2010 Revision) details our aims for developing suitable facilities across Scotland.
