Psyched for Competitions!
Thursday 29th July 2010
British Team Newsletter
With Scottish climbers as current British Champions and a total of 14 young climbers from Scotland on the British Team just now; and the IFSC World Youth Championships coming to EICA: Ratho in September with 10 Scots selected to the team to compete for Britain (over half the team!), it would seem like Scotland's young climbers are taking over the world!
A new and exciting development from the BMC's Competitions Committee aims to keep everyone up to date with the fortunes of the British Team, using an on-line pdf newsletter called Psyched.
Psyched started in 2009, is produced by volunteers on a (hopefully) quarterly basis and now includes information not just about international IFSC comps and the fortunes of the British Team, but also profiles of famous climbers from across the world, training reports and ideas, discussions about the future of sport climbing as well as reports about Scottish National comps with the help of the MCofS.
Psyched 1 (2009) includes articles by Scots climbers Jonny Stocking and Natalie Berry as well as training tips from Dave MacLeod.
Psyched 2 (2010) includes news from foreign shores by Natalie Berry and results of the BMC Leading Ladder.
Psyched 3 (2010) includes A report from Ian Dunn on the Youth C Category attending the International Youth Open at Imst, Austria (with Angus Davidson, William Bosi, Nikki Addison and Gabriella Stewart), Rachael Carr reports on Team Training in Aix, France, there is a profile of Eleanor Hopkins, Dry Tooling and the Scottish Tooling Series by Pete Hill and a report on the SYCC by Avril Gall.
Check them out on the MCofS Competition Squad page and keep up to date with how our young climbers are doing.
