APPLICATION FOR THESE EVENTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE
Venues: Central belt & Perthshire Crags, Aberdeen Sea Cliffs & Northumberland
Cost (members): £15 per child per day
Cost (non-members): £15 + initial joining fee of £10
- REALrock Intro-sessions are held at outcrop crags – either sport or traditional climbing venues
- REALtrad or REALsport is decided on the day – weather dependent.
- REALrock sessions are taken by instructors and MCofS volunteers.
- They are available for children 8yrs-18yrs old who have indoor climbing experience on bolts top-roping or leading).
- The days’ activities will be tailored to what the individual wants to do: a first experience of outdoor rock, top-roping, leading on trad’, leading on sport.
- Children must supply their own technical equipment: harness, belay plate, rock shoes & helmet and know how to use them. Ropes will be supplied free of charge. Chalk bags and Bouldering mats for the bouldering sessions are recommended (mats can be supplied free of charge).
- Parents provide their own transport to the meeting point/crag.
- Parents with children below 16years MUST attend the session (Parents are encouraged to take part – learn to belay your child! Try climbing!)
- Young People between 16-18 year olds may participate unattended.
- You can attend as many sessions as you like (to get the most out of REALrock we recommend three sessions).
- The non-members session fee is the same as members, but you must join the MCofS (at a discounted rate of £10) to cover Civil Liability insurance.
The REALtrad and REALsport days will be delivered by Pamela Millar (EICA: Ratho Youth Development Officer, MCofS Assistant Coach) and the REALbouldering days by Neill Busby (Senior Instructor, MCofS Coach & rep on GB Team Management); ably assisted by various other instructors.
BOOK YOUR PLACE on REALrock
There are several ways to book your place and pay (see below). You will receive confirmation and either Pamela or Neill will contact you with details of the day (e.g. where to meet).
MCofS MEMBERS: Book on-line
MCofS Members should login to the Members Area and make a booking and their payment on-line. You will need your membership number (this will have been emailed to you). If you have lost it contact Jane or Denise at admin@mcofs.org.uk
NON-MEMBERS: Book & Pay by Post, email or over the phone:
Non Members can download an Application Form [2 versions below]. Either:
- Print off the pdf version, complete it by hand and post it to the MCofS Office & enclose payment by cheque OR
- Post the application form but pay by card, simply phone the office (01738 493 942) OR
- Download the word doc version & complete it & email to admin@mcofs.org.uk and pay by phone OR
- Use the form on the Event Entry Page. You can also pay for your MCofS Membership here at the same time, but not at the reduced special rate.

PLEASE NOTE:
- Cost includes climbing coaching/instruction; civil liability insurance; use of technical equipment
- Parents should note that those taking the sessions are both MCofS volunteers and qualified instructors
- All venues and activities are risk assessed
- Parents are asked to provide their own transport to the venues and to attend the session, even if they do not climb, to supervise their children when not climbing
- Parents can view the MCofS Child Protection Policy, but as parents are attending we do not ordinarily ask for our volunteers to undergo Disclosure, although many have

INSURANCE:
Membership of MCofS is a condition of attendance as this gives Civil Liability Insurance cover, but NOT personal accident / activity insurance. The latter can be obtained separately from BMC Insurance Services. Visit the BMC website to make arrangements if you wish and state you are a MCofS Member (individual or club).
