Safety & Good Practice Seminar 2012

For Scottish Student
Mountaineering, Climbing and Hillwalking Clubs

TOTAL NUMBER ATTENDING: 50 students

Each club may nominate five students initially. Surplus places will then be allocated. 

Cost per student: £20

Deadline for allocated places: 10th October

9th - 11th November 2012 - Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore

The seminar is aimed at Student Club members who might expect to be in a position of responsibility by virtue of their experience, organisational remit or committee membership. The weekend will NOT focus on introducing new or inexperienced members to climbing or hill walking, or provide leadership training. Union, university or college employees are also invited if they have an overview of club organisation or safety issues.

The programme will cover a wide range of subjects including:-

4.  Qualifications, Training Opportunities and Experience

5.  Novices and running a club

6.  Scrambling and Hazard Awareness

7.  Winter Check List

8.  Navigation

SUNDAY

a.  Mountain Navigation - introductory

b.  Mountain Navigation - advanced

c.  Skills for Rock Climbing - introductory

d.  Skills for Rock Climbing - advanced
