Campaigns

Throughout the history of the MCofS, since its beginnings in 1970, its volunteers have campaigned on behalf of mountaineers and walkers on numerous issues concerning the Scottish hills. Until 1989 all this work was done by Executive volunteers, but was none the less very effective. Often in partnership with other voluntary organisations the MCofS won some major battles including the prevention of ski expansion into Lurchers Gully on Cairngorm in 1993.

Since 1989, the employment of staff with backup from volunteers, have mounted some major campaigns. The following is a brief resume of some of the more important of these:
