Club Membership Renewal and Fees

With effect from April 2010, the club subscription year will be the same as the financial year used by MCofS for accounting purposes - April to March. In years prior to the 2009 AGM the club subscription year was September to August.

The rates of each year's subscription will be fixed at the AGM prior to the following financial / club subscription year. For example, the fee for adult members of clubs for the period April 2010 to March 2011 was fixed at £13.00 at the 2009 AGM.

Registration of members of your club and issues relating to civil liability insurance are described here.  New members must be advised to MCofS within one month of joining your club; this ensures that our records are maintained up to date for insurance purposes and that your members receive copies of Scottish Mountaineer as published. The prefered format for lists sent by email is here.

Fees for the interim period September 2009 to March 2010

The Extraordinary General Meeting held on 5 September 2009 agreed a special resolution which included a change to the start of the membership year, which moved from September to April.

Members agreed at the subsequent AGM that there would be an interim fee per member covering the period September 2009 to March 2010. The relevant fees are £7.50 for adult, and £5.00 for youth members (under 18 years of age). MCofS will request these fees from clubs in September 2009.

Fees for existing members at renewal have been fixed at £13.00 for adults, and £8.45 for youth members (under 18). Fees will be requested in April 2010 and must be paid by no later than December 2010. We have simplified the pro-rata fee arrangements for new members as follows:
