Good pathwork on Beinn eighe by Hebe CarusPath Issues

The MCofS works with partner organisations such as the Upland Path Advisory Group (UPAG) and Upland Path Trust to achieve a high standard of appropriate construction where path repair is necessary to control and reduce the effects of erosion. Unfortunately our enjoyment of the mountains has an effect on the landscape we enjoy. We can all “do our bit” to reduce our impacts through such things as not cutting off zig-zags, keeping to the path rather than the edges even when it is boggy, following MCofS advice etc. You can also make a positive contribution by doing volunteer path repair. Information of opportunities in your area can be found through a network of volunteer centres.

If you find a path suffering from serious erosion, please e-mail MCofS the grid reference of the start and end of the section of path and a digital image.

Reports and items concerning mountain paths and tracks are available here.
