MCofS Route-setting Service
For Schools and Local Authorities
MCofS is offering a bespoke route-setting service to any school and local authority managing a climbing wall (indoor or outdoor)
This service employs MCofS Climbing Coaches and Area Youth Coordinators (AYC’s) who are covered by civil liability insurance through the MCofS under the terms of ‘Professional Advice’. Our route-setters can give advice on what is most appropriate for walls for children of all ages, what style and type of holds to use or purchase and the setting of suitable routes.
The service offers:
- Setters with extensive experience at setting for children of all ages.
- Setters experienced at setting for kids competitions for all ages.
- Setters that can set for high standard competitions if required.
- Setters that have extensive experience of route-setting for the MCofS, BMC and International competitions.
- Setters that have been trained in route-setting to MCofS’s agreed safe standards to ensure their own safety whilst working.
- Setters who are experienced in setting complex routes on walls to minimise any risk of injury from falls and swings into other areas of the wall.
Conditions
- The client must supply all holds and fixings.
- The client is responsible for the safety of the climbing wall and any belay points used by our setters.
- The client may supply equipment (e.g. ropes) for use by setters, but both parties must check their safety before use.
- The Setters will supply their own personal climbing equipment and be responsible for its safe condition.
- Routes are set using best practice and are fit for use at the end of setting.
- It must be emphasised that holds do work loose over time and it is the responsibility of the client to maintain regular checks post setting.
- Every effort is made by setters to ensure that potential falls from routes climbed under normal conditions do not pose additional hazards (e.g. swinging into protruding areas of adjacent walls). The MCofS and our route-setters cannot be held responsible for injury to persons climbing on the routes.
- The client should manage the wall in accordance with best practice. The MCofS advice and guidance on wall management is available on our website along with MCofS safety posters.
Charges:
