The Mountain Leader Training Association

The MCofS is pleased to work in partnership with the Mountain Leader Training Association (MLTA).

MLTA focuses on CPD and development opportunities and many award holders now choose to join the Association. It is both a formal and straightforward way of keeping your skills up to date and recording your CPD.

The Mountain Leader Training Association is a membership organisation for climbing, walking and mountain leaders.

MLTA provides support and development opportunities for leaders who hold or are working towards a national award.It is especially relevant to you if you need to demonstrate your ongoing competence to an employee or other organisation.

MLTA holds CPD training events, social and networking occasions in regional locations throughout the year. MLTA is a web-based organisation, with a lively and active forum.

Members benefit from special deals on professional liability insurance, gear and training.

Who can join?

Membership is for anyone who has registered for any of the awards overseen by MLT and the home nation training boards. CPD requirements apply to qualified members who have held an award for 5+ years.

Membership is currently £27.50 per year


CPD Policy

Membership of MLTA now includes a "CPD Policy".

FULL members who have held an award for 5 years will have to record their ongoing development online and to undertake certain minimum levels of CPD on a 5 yearly basis.

Continued membership of MLTA will be subject to confirmation that those levels have been met and recorded. Each member records their own CPD on the MLTA website.
