Stuart Johnston, MIC and his staff are one of Scotland’s leading providers of MLTS National Governing Body awards. Our experience and dedication in providing high quality coaching and practitioner learning materials is to the highest of standards, reflecting best practice and current modern thinking on mountaineering topics.

ClimbWhenYoureReady.com is a Climbing and Mountaineering Instructional business run by Alan Halewood MIC.

I provide the MLTS SPA, CWA and CWLA and training and safety advice to 3 of Scotland’s major climbing walls as well as year round coaching and instruction on walking, mountaineering and climbing.

Dedicated, since 1984, to providing quality guided walking experiences throughout Scotland. We also aim to encourage those who wish to be independent or take responsibility for others to gain the skills and experience required.

The full range of National Navigation Award scheme courses are regularly available as are WGL training and assessment opportunities. Other programmed courses include Winter Skills, Nordic Walking and Snow Shoeing, and the entire range is delivered in a relaxed, patient but rigorous manner. Courses mostly start in Stirling; gateway to the best walking in Scotland. However, they can also be delivered at a suitable location near YOU.

EICA: Ratho - the National Indoor Climbing Centre for Scotland - is the world's largest indoor climbing arena, set in a magnificent building which hosts a range of climbing and non climbing activities to keep the whole family entertained!

We run climbing, navigation and mountaineering courses and activities in summer and winter from our base just outside Edinburgh. Many courses are run at the centre or on the local crags and hills and we are in easy striking distance of Glen Coe, the Cairngorms, the Lake District and many other great locations.

Firbush is Scotland’s only University-owned Outdoor Centre, situated on Loch Tay with spectacular views over the Lawers and Tarmigan ranges.

We are a 40-bed residential centre offering a range of activities on the loch and hills including Winter Skills training and Mountain Leader Training.

We provide most of our courses for Edinburgh University staff and students but we are open to outside groups and individuals.

Edinburgh University groups receive reduced prices and there is a fund to subsidise EU students on Mountain Leader courses.

Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre operates a full range of winter climbing, mountaineering and hill walking courses each year from it’s base near Glencoe.

Ken has over 15 years experience as a professional in the field of outdoor activities. His career has spanned variety of areas, from Head of Centre to development training, from working in LEA centre's as head of department for mountaineering and kayaking to private tuition and guiding, as well as providing advice to the Public and Private sectors on technical matters.

He is a holder of both the Mountaineering Instructors Certificate and the International Mountain Leader Award. Ken has climbed extensively in the UK as well as Europe and North America.

He is both an inland and sea Level 4 Coach of the British Canoe Union and has paddled most of the West Coast of Scotland bringing a wealth of experience to Undiscovered Country Adventure. He is responsible for all instruction and safety with Undiscovered Country Adventure where he is committed to providing the highest standards of quality and excellence.

When other instructors are used they will be qualified to national guidelines.

Ken is passionate about enabling people to enjoy the outdoors at whatever level they desire.
