Rosyth Quarry:
Climb, Clean and be Merry
By Christian Lenehan
On the 14th June Heriott University MC will be running a Clean-up event at Rosyth Quarry. This little venue is an easy access suntrap, good for summer evenings when the tide is wrong for the more favoured Hawkcraig down the road. Good for teaching beginners, it has good routes up to HVS and the rock is generally sound (if you stay on the main walls). As a Central Belt quarry, it has always received some attention from locals for quad biking and other less wholesome pursuits. However, the problem of broken glass and rubbish is escalating and now a great cause for concern. If we aren’t to lose this venue altogether action is needed now. Come join us at Rosyth Quarry on the 14th June from 10am and make a real difference: meet local climbers, do a couple of routes, help spruce the place up and we’ll arrange refreshments and snacks – if everyone brings some food we will provide a BBQ!
