Scottish Primary School Climbing Competition
2010

The 2nd annual Scottish Primary Inter-School Climbing Competition will be held over the coming months. The event is being organised by Extreme Dream Ltd and supported by the Mountaineering Council of Scotland.

• An expertly run competition using qualified and experienced Instructors.
• An Activity that fulfills Curriculum for Excellence criteria.
• A perfect pathway for children into the sport of climbing.
• The only competition of its kind in the UK.
• Free Grand Final at a weekend.
• A great way to make use of your valuable Traverse Wall resource.
• Motivate, encourage and rekindle enthusiasm for the use of your traverse wall.
• First place School and First place Individual Awards.

Invites have been sent out to all Primary Schools in Scotland with known climbing walls to participate in the event. The competition will have a very simple format with each school having a qualifying round that takes place on the School Traverse Wall. The Finals will then take place at Extreme Dream’s Indoor Climbing Wall, Aviemore. Age groups will be Primary 5 and Primary 6.

Booking:
Schools are asked to book their place by Monday 10^th May.

The Qualifiers:
Qualifying is not time consuming and can be flexible so as not to interfere with the school day, it could easily be part of a PE lesson or similar or even be over break times or lunch and will be run by one of the instructors from Extreme Dream. All teachers will be required to do is bring out each year group and the instructors do the rest.

The Grand Final:
Date: Saturday 19^th June 2010
The Finals at Extreme Dream will be a FREE day.
The top two competitors (male and female) from each year group will represent their school at the Finals. Simple!
