Di Gilbert on the Cairngorm PlateauScottish Ski Touring and Ski Mountaineering

Ski Mountaineering in Scotland is becoming increasingly popular, particularly following the  two great winters of unprecidented snowy conditions in 2010 and 2011.  There are several clubs who are affiliated to the MCofS who encourage and support ski mountaineering.  These are the Glasgow Ski Touring Club, the Edinburgh Ski Touring Club, Caithness Mountaineering & Ski Club, Tayside Nordic Ski Club, Inverness Nordic Ski Club and the Kyle Mountain Club.  All their contact details can be found here if you wish to get involved.

The MCofS has also re-established a working group to support ski mountaineering and off-piste adventures with a view to providing opportunities for training and education.  The newly established Ski Touring Advisory Group (STAG) held it's first meeting in May 2011  and has 11 members.  Details of STAG, current members and the work that they are involved in can be viewed here

If you want to get involved in STAG or have any questions or suggestions, then please get in touch with Heather Morning the MCofS Mountain Safety Advisor at msa_mcofs@hotmail.co.uk
