Scottish Youth Championships 2007

This new event was held for the first time at Extreme Dream Climbing Wall in Aviemore in June 2007. It brought together the top 5 young climbers in each category of the MCofS Youth Climbing Series (BRYCS), for both north and south Scotland to find the Scottish Champions. It was also regarded as a good ‘warm-up’ for the YCS final at Ratho on the 30^th June.

It was a fun-packed day with over 40 children competing on a series of problems and routes in a format quite different to the usual YCS arrangements.

Results

Nicky Addison took the 7-9 girls title whilst Ruairidh MacAskill the 7-9 boys; Dylan Mackenzie the 10-12 boys and Jamie Davidson the girls title; whilst Ellen MacAskill won the 13-15 girls and Ross Kirkland took the boys title. Full rankings can be found below.

Thanks to Extreme Dream staff and all the volunteers and the children for a great event that will definitely be held again in 2008.
