Ordering from the Mountaineering Council of Scotland - Our Terms of Business
1. Website. This website is owned and operated by The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS), The Old Granary, West Mill Street, Perth, PH1 5QP. You are placing an order directly with the MCofS.
2. About Us. The MCofS was founded in 1970 and became incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in 2007. MCofS is a not-for-profit membership organisation, registered at the above address. Company number SC322717. MCofS is not registered for VAT.
3. Our Contact Details. You can contact us at the above address, or by email at info@mountaineering-scotland.org.uk. By telephone on 01738-493942 (International +44 17 38 493 942). By fax at 01738-442095 (International +44 1738 442095).
4. Ordering. When you place an order with us, you are making an offer to buy goods. We only accept orders placed by post, telephone, through paypal or in person at our offices. There is no facility to place orders on-line through our website. To place an order, you should state the description and price of the goods required and include postage charges where stated on our website in your payment. If goods are not available we will return your payment, or advise you of the anticipated delivery time. If you advise us that the delivery lead-time is unacceptable to you, we will cancel the order and refund your payment. You have the right to cancel your order at any time up to 7 days following receipt of the goods.
5. Payment. Payment must be made at the time you place your order. Orders should be accompanied by payment using the following options: Cheque payable to The Mountaineering Council of Scotland; Credit or Debit Card; paypal to finance@mountaineering-scotland.org.uk; or by cash in person at our office.
6. Pricing. All pricing is in pounds sterling. We are not registered for Value Added Tax and our pricing and invoicing does not show UK Value Added Tax separately. We do not accept orders from outside the United Kingdom.
7. Delivery. Your order will usually be despatched within 7 days of receipt at our office. We will not charge your credit card until your order is ready to leave. Delivery will be by post operated by Royal Mail. If goods are lost or damaged in transit, please let us know promptly. Please note that the Royal Mail will not commence an investigation for lost items until 15 working days have elapsed from the date of posting. All items posted from our offices are identified with the name of the company and our return address.
8. Refunds. If you would like to return your goods for a refund, for any reason, just return them unused and undamaged in suitable packaging within 7 days of receipt. Please enclose a note indicating that you are canceling your order and requesting a refund. Your refund will be issued by the same method as used by you for payment and we will refund the price of the goods and the original postage.
9. Quality. If you have any query or complaint about the quality of the goods you have ordered and received please contact our office by letter, email, telephone or fax.
10. Security and Privacy. The MCofS understands that you trust us with private information which we need to process your order. You have our assurance that your information will not be shared with any other organisations except the Bank of Scotland, our chosen payment card service provider.
11. Data Protection. The Mountaineering Council of Scotland is fully registered within the terms of the Data Protection Act in the United Kingdom, registration number Z9081994.
12. Orders from Overseas. We are unable to accept orders from outside the United Kingdom.
13. Acceptance of Orders. We retain the right to accept your order solely at our discretion.
14. Changes to these terms. These terms were first published on on 30 July 2008.
