Fun Climbing Competitions for Beginners to Experts
For Kids aged 8yrs - 17yrs
2013 YCS Dates are now Confirmed- put them into your diary!!Applications will be recieved from Wednesday 9th January |
This year’s climbing competitions for young people in Scotland are being held at the following venues and on the dates posted below (all Saturday’s).
There has been a few changes to the 2013 series as follows:
- There are 2 different regions. Climbers resident across the north and west should attend the North Region Series. Those resident in the central belt and south should attend the South Region Series. Climbers resident in the Perthshire & Angus areas (in the middle!) should decide which area best suits them.
- The dates of the rounds are the same this year for the North Region and the South Region so you can only compete in one region - the region you are resident in. Your application form will allow you to indicate which region you are competing in. This will be the region you will potentially be a member of as a Scottish Team member.

Age Categories for 2013:
We have adopted the IFSC age categories for the YCS, which means there are 5 age categories based on the year that a young person is born and each age category covers a 2 year period. For each category there will be a separate male and female competition. The age categories are:Youth A: for those born in the years 1996 and 1997
Youth B: for those born in the years 1998 and 1999
Youth C: for those born in the years 2000 and 2001
Youth D: for those born in the years 2002 and 2003
Youth E: for those born in the years 2004 and 2005 -
Leading and top-roping:
The older age categories (children born in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999) will lead their routes, whilst the younger age categories will top-rope their routes. You can find out more about what the differences are in the MCofS Booklet "Children.... Information for Parents"
